Structure:
Boot Up Orientation - This 9 minute orientation video provides an overview of Boot Up structure, where resources are found, how teams are formed, after you’ve received your Invite email.
Invite Email:
5-6 days before your start-date, you will be emailed a link to join the Slack. Join it ASAP once you get the invite link! We will close the Slack link at Noon PST on the Friday before your start date. We will not be communicating via email again after this, the rest of Boot Up is run out of the Slack.
Boot Up Slack:
All of Boot Up operates out of Slack for communication, this is where the Boot Up organizers send important announcements and where teams coordinate meetings, readings, and share other resources.
Learning Groups & Meeting Times:
Once the Slack link is closed, we will place you in a private slack channel (#team-name) based on days/times you said you were available upon registration.
Homework & Group-work :
Meeting Pages (see CONTENT section above) will guide you through learning content & meeting discussions. Each Meeting Page includes:
Learning material (homework: to review on your own time prior to meetings)
We recommend you split-up/assign readings to each team member: divide and conquer! There’re a lot of great resources to cover and it might feel overwhelming to try and tackle them all on your own.
Meeting agendas (group-work: discussion questions for your group meetings)
Goals:
The purpose of Boot Up is to provide you with a thorough and holistic introduction to background and applications of carbon removal strategies.
Participants will leave Boot Up with the following:
Comprehensive overview of current and upcoming CDR strategies and technologies
Deeper understanding carbon removal approaches , including environmental & social justice considerations of these approaches
CDR Friends! fostered via weekly group discussions
Understanding of key-players in the CDR space (companies and organizations)
Feel empowered to figure out where you want to go next in your CDR journey!
Booted Up Badge for attending 7 out of 11 meetings!
Note on Boot Up Structure & Goals:
Boot Up Learning Groups are self-sufficient! Boot Up Admins help you find your teams and guide you to learning resources. Beyond that- it is ultimately up to your team to decide how you want to learn and grow together!
If you’re ever lost along the way- ask a team member for help!
If you’re still lost, check out the FAQ or message the #questions channel in Slack.
