What makes a good Boot Up meeting?

  • The meetings should be ~1 hour long.

We recommend you plan to end promptly so teammates don’t feel pressured to stay or be late for other obligations. Of course, you can all stay on longer, but be respectful of everyone’s time.

  • To help meetings flow easier:

We’ve provided suggested meeting agendas for each meeting, accessible via HOW IT WORKS, above. Here is a link to the Meeting 1 agenda to help get you started. Additionally, encourage everyone to share impressions on readings.

  • To help cover more content:

We’ve seen past teams use a divide-and-conquer method, where they split-up resources amongst team members at the end of each meeting. It’s a way to help mitigate feeling overwhelmed by the amount of resources and also so each person can bring a different perspective to the following meeting’s discussion!

Pick a team moderator

Past successful teams have elected a team moderator to help guide team meeting discussions, but it is by no means necessary to have productive sessions with your group. Discuss this in your first meeting.

Some moderators have had fun taking on additional small initiatives (pre-meeting reminders, post-meeting recaps, slide decks with the discussion questions)- this totally up to you!

A single moderator can be assigned for the entirety of Boot Up, or you can rotate the responsibility through other active teammates to lighten the workload. Discuss this in your first meeting.

Tools: Moderators have used Miro (example from Team Sloth password:12345678), Slidio, Google Slides, Google Docs, etc. These tools help teams stay organized!

As moderator, if you can’t make a meeting for any reason, let your team know ahead of time and appoint an alternative moderator.

Who can I ask for help?

If anyone has questions (e.g. time-conflicts, where to find learning material, meeting agendas, etc.) refer to the HOW IT WORKS or FAQ pages.

If you have additional questions or concerns, send a message to the #questions channel in the Slack!
