Is Boot Up for Me?
I like “Book Club”-Style Learning.
Boot Up is not a typical “student-teacher” course. There are no experts or instructors to guide group discussions. Its structure is more similar to that of a book club, where participants all prepare by reading material before the meeting, and come together with their own unique experiences and backgrounds. Learning, exploring, and growing happens collectively!
I want to learn about carbon removal with others!
Boot Up is designed with an emphasis on group collaboration and thoughtful discussions. If you appreciate accountability and would like a fun and respectful group setting to share your CDR curiosities, then Boot Up is for you! Everyone is welcome.
If you want to learn without the social component, feel free to use the Boot Up Syllabus as a learning guide (or directly use Carbon Removal Academy, the resources are the same).
I want to gain a comprehensive understanding of CDR.
Boot Up aims to provide the most relevant breadth of CDR material currently available, guiding you through the main CDR sectors. So you can learn just the basics of each sector, or (if you fall in love with any sector in particular) there are plenty of resources to satiate any depth-of-learning needs as well.
If you just want to learn a quick overview of CDR , we recommend you check out Heidi Lim’s “We Need to Talk about Carbon Removal”. If you discover you want to learn more, feel free to come back here and sign up for Boot Up!
If you just want to gain depth in a particular CDR sector, check out our MODULES (see above) and self-study the area(s) you’re most interested in.
What if I’m a busy person?
Boot Up participants review material on their own time, at their own pace. Learning Group meetings facilitate material comprehension & retention via group discussions. So you could (hypothetically) study 1 hour of educational material per meeting and still participate in Boot Up group discussions.
There are 2 Learning Group meetings/week. Each meeting is 1 hour long. The final week is just one meeting, summarizing your Boot Up experience and learnings. That is a total of 11 hours of group discussion over the course of 6 weeks.
If you can’t make this round of Boot Up, we plan to offer a new one around the start of every other month; you’re welcome to sign up at a later date if you’re particularly busy.
